HENRY’S M.D.-LEGACY BETTER DAYS RESCUE.ORG UPDATE OCT 12, 2025
CONDITION Very Good
ACTIVITY Henry has plateaued nicely at VERY GOOD and he continues to be engaged in his surroundings.
MUSCULO-SKELETAL continued ‘flop downs,’ frequently. The rate of occurrence has not changed. Although, he does sustain walking much better than his
Initial ability of 600 feet for his total walk. He can now walk around the block. There is no nail scuffing when he walks.
Henry’s rear legs continue to shake. It is more pronounced when he must shift his weight to his rear legs, ie: to engage in an activity in front of him.
If he leans down to eat at floor level, it is more difficult for him. His weight is borne mainly on his front legs; rear legs just touch points on the floor.
Henry tried to get out of a pool at the deep-end by using his front paws to pull himself out. He failed, yet tried twice again. His rear legs were not able to assist in a thrust upward and forward. He swam to the opposite end to use the steps. These deficits seem to be chronic
RESPIRATION Flewing, with little to no cheek puffing. Henry can breathe through his nose, mouth closed.
CARDIA Rapid and sometimes hard.
NUTRITION On his two trials of entirely processed foods, he got diarrhea. Bowel movements were firm on home prepared food.
SOCIAL Henry missed Mr. Bones while he was visiting Lady Lark and Lily Bean. Henry was so excited to see Mr. Bones, and their friend Kaos stopped in as well.
EMOTIONAL Separation anxiety continues. When he gets into his kennel at night, I give him his special Snuggle Puppy. Now that he is used to sleeping with his reserved stuffy, Henry got to feel the “heart beat” insert last night. This morning the Snuggle Puppy had a wet paw….apparently a ‘pacifier’ for Henry. Today was his first trial when I left for 20 minutes. Consistency is the key and we will keep trying. The new dog door swings both ways and we are officially off the pee pads!!!
