Meet Dixie!! Dixie is a petite gem of a dog, despite her stunning (flashy?) coat, she is pleasant and unassuming. She's our pretty little homegrown hometown girl...
Dixie needs long walks and runs, she is an athlete and deserves to live among athletes. She's gentle but has endurance and curiosity. She is a long, tall dog, but not chunky or heavy. This girl is a ballerina and, given a running start can take flight over walls. Securely fenced yard is a MUST.
Dixie is sweet and playful, likes snacks but prefers snuggles, and is happy for all of the attention being showered on her. She likes being among friends! This is a very young dog who will not do well for hours without her human. She will also require at least one other fun, friendly dog friend.
Dixie LOVES her foster brother and plays and snuggles with him. She hops willingly into the vehicle for road trips. She is quite frightened of bees (smart girl!)
If you believe you are a possible match for her, please complete our  online adoption application.
**IMPORTANT** If you are reading about this dog on a pet search site, PLEASE navigate to our animal list  and read  this dog's entire, detailed profile, which includes important criteria that must be met in order for your application to be considered.
  • "Needs a fenced yard" means, a backyard that is adjacent to and connected with your residence. (It does not mean, a nearby fenced area/dog park.)
  • "Needs companion animal" means, needs at least one other friendly dog that lives in the same household.
  • We do not adopt to college students because it has been our experience that most do not know where life will take them in the next few years, and adopting a dog is a serious, lifetime commitment for the dog.

Dogs remain posted while we screen potential adopters. The dog's status will show "available" "pending adoption" or "adopted." As long as dog is "available" we continue to accept applications.

We are staffed by all volunteers and use an application protocol to handle all inquiries about adoptable dogs. This system enables an efficiency that allows us to save and care for more dogs. Discussion about a dog - including scheduling of a home check or other dialogue - cannot occur until we have received your completed adoption applicationNO EXCEPTIONS. Thank you!
