PAISLEY is *extremely* intelligent, and needs active, Heeler-savvy humans who understand working dogs and will challenge her to new things daily. Paisley seeks someone experienced in agility, AKC Trick Dog, and/or dog-dancing. She's a natural! Having another active, playful same-size or larger dog in the home will help Paisley adjust to her new routine.
Paisley loves to run and needs a large fenced yard - she would enjoy a fun-loving dog playmate. Paisley LOVES interaction and she is food-motivated. If you are looking for a dog who'll sit around all day waiting for you to get home, this is NOT the dog for you! IF you are happy, active (hiking and running and thinking up new and inventive games) you'll be her favorite!!!
Paisley *ROCKED* a scent-dog evaluation with a seasoned searcher/trainer. This dog is exceptional!! Please share her profile with those who can network her to dog sport enthusiasts!!
Interestingly, despite Paisley's love of "the chase" she *may* be suitable with cats *with proper introduction and supervision.* Paisley loves playful dogs but is human-selective. This means she takes time to know and trust, and requires an adults-only home. She will learn to love young children, but kids and teens have kid and teen friends who don't understand the working-dog mentality.
In order to succeed, Paisley needs savvy guardians who'll permit her to size up strangers (anyone new or who does not visit more than every week or so). She has definite preferences in people, but once she trusts you, you are in the club and she WILL bond to you! Paisley will be placed in adults-only home. While she may come to love a child or teen, she is a working dog and young humans have young friends. Due to abuse in her prior home, Paisley has real reservations with new humans of any age. We are seeking adopters with working dog experience who have an understanding of the Heeler breed.
If you believe you're a possible match for Paisley PLEASE complete an adoption application! In your application, please describe your experience raising and training Aussies/Heelers/working dogs, and any experience you may have with the above-mentioned dog sports! Thank you!
We encourage you to register on our site and "Favorite" the dog(s) that interest you, so that you will be notified when bio or photos are updated.

  • "Companion animal" means another friendly, playful dog that lives in the same household.
  • "Fenced yard" means, a backyard that is adjacent to and connected with your residence . (It does not mean a nearby fenced area/dog park.)
  • Gates must have padlocks and thresholds (cement or buried pavers to prevent digging.)
  • Yard and patio must be free of debris and have room for dogs to run and play on a lawn and/or a very shaded area.
  • We do not place dogs in situations where there are "drained" or empty swimming pools, which are a fall hazard and contribute to the propogation of mosquitos.
  • We DO NOT adopt to students as we have found that they often do not know or anticipate where life is taking them next.

Dogs remain posted while we screen potential adopters. As long as dog is designated "Available" we continue to accept applications.

We are staffed by all volunteers and use an application protocol to handle all inquiries about adoptable dogs. This system enables an efficiency that allows us to save and care for more dogs. Discussion about a dog - including scheduling of a home check or other dialogue - cannot occur until we have received your completed adoption applicationNO EXCEPTIONS. Thank you!
