Tess needs a calm, friendly, similar-size dog friend in her new home. (Preference will be given to placement opportunities with at least one friendly medium or large dog in the home.)

She is learning to play and has the lovely laidback Lab attitude. She loves snacks and takes them gently. She is finds all the new humans very curious and she likes attention!
Like her siblings, Tess came from a situation of far too many dogs and not enough resources or attention. Our volunteers are working with them to help them adjust to suburban living.
As a young dog, Tess needs adult humans home most of the time; she cannot be crated for long periods and needs plenty of activity and brain work. (Preference will be given to adopters who work from home and/or can augment pup-raising with doggie daycare.) Buttercup would most likely enjoy calm and well-behaved children over eight years of age.
Tess’ bio will indicate “not good with small dogs” until we have a better idea of her ability to interact well with smaller breeds.
If you believe you may be a match for Tess, please complete our online adoption application and we’ll soon begin reviewing applications to match her with her new family.
  • "Companion animal" means, needs at least one other friendly, playful dog that lives in the same household.
  • "Fenced yard" means, a backyard that is adjacent to and connected with your residence . (It does not mean a nearby fenced area/dog park.)  If the dog's bio indicates a pool is required, this refers to an in-ground functioning pool that is located in the private, fenced yard adjacent to and connected with the residence.
  • Gates must have padlocks and thresholds (cement or buried pavers to prevent digging.)
  • Yard and patio must be free of debris and have room for dogs to run and play on a lawn and/or a very shaded area.
  • We do not place dogs in situations where there are "drained" or empty swimming pools, which are a fall hazard and contribute to the propogation of mosquitos.
  • We DO NOT adopt to students as we have found that they often do not know or anticipate where life is taking them next.
