IF YOU’RE VIEWING THIS VIA A PET SEARCH SITE, WE’RE STILL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR CARLY. PLEASE visit our website to read our policies as well as Carly's requirements/detailed profile.
Our puppies are placed in the Phoenix metro area, for proximity to our rescue (home checks, follow up visits, visit to finalize adoption) and for access to our veterinarian. Sorry, no exceptions.
Carly's adoption begins with a Foster-To-Adopt arrangement that continues until Puppy Kindergarten (or Basic Obedience) and Intermediate Obedience Training are completed. When training is complete, adoption can then be finalized.
Carly is funny, fast, intelligent! She is known for playing with a toy, all by herself, in her kennel to keep herself entertained. (Aww!) Carly has learned to be friendly with humans who lighthearted and let her knows that they enjoy her company! She loooves snacks and attention!
Carly needs a playful, friendly, similar-size dog friend who is approximately her age in her new home. (Preference will be given to placement opportunities with at least one friendly medium or large playful adult dog - not senior and not puppy - in the home.)
Like her cousins, Carly came from a situation of far too many dogs and not enough resources or attention. Our volunteers have diligently worked with them to help them adjust to suburban living. Carly is very much enjoying the structure and continuous attention at the rehabilitative boarding kennel. Although she is sometimes still shy, she is a funny, happy soul who is an expert at the “submissive grin” (google it, it’s an actual thing!)
Carly is a young dog and needs adult humans who are home most of the time; she cannot be crated for long periods and needs plenty of activity and brain work. (Preference will be given to adopters who work from home and/or can augment pup-raising with doggie daycare.) For Carly, middle-school aged children are a blast! She appreciates and enjoys our youngest volunteer, who is 13 years of age.
Carly will not be placed with small dogs, cats, or other smaller pets because she has a significant prey drive.
If you believe you may be a match for Carly, please complete our online adoption application. Please detail your experience with Border Collies and working with dogs who need to gain confidence. If you have used 'brain-work' toys and enrichment for your dogs, we would like to hear about that!
We encourage you to register on our site and "Favorite" the dog(s) that interest you, so that you will be notified when bio, photos, or status are updated.
  • "Companion animal" means, needs at least one other friendly, playful dog that lives full-time in the same household.
  • "Fenced yard" means, a backyard that is adjacent to and connected with your residence. (It does not mean a nearby fenced area/dog park.)
  • Gates must have padlocks and thresholds (cement or buried pavers to prevent digging.)
  • Yard and patio must be free of debris and have room for dogs to run and play *on a lawn and/or in a very shaded area.* Please do not invite us to your home if you have not yet landscaped your yard!
  • “Swimming pool” means a private, in-ground, year-round pool that is available to the dog daily or multiple times per week.
  • We do not place dogs in situations where there are "drained" or empty swimming pools, which are a fall hazard and contribute to the propogation of mosquitos.
  • Last and not least, we DO NOT adopt to students as we have found that they often do not know or anticipate where life will take them.

Discussion about a dog - including scheduling of a home check or other dialogue - cannot occur until we have received your completed adoption applicationNO EXCEPTIONS. Thank you!
