YES we're accepting applications for Max! Please visit to apply.
Max will be placed in the Phoenix metro area, for proximity to our rescue (home checks, follow up visits, visit to finalize adoption) and for access to our veterinarian. Sorry, no exceptions.
Our adoptions begin with a Foster-To-Adopt period.
Max is a sweet little gentleman who enjoys companionship, gentle hands, good meals, and a soft bed! He is thriving in a calm, quiet home where he accompanies his foster mom in activities like office work, reading, house- and yard chores. Max is great on the leash and he loves walking adventures.Max appears to be poodle mixed with rough-coated terrier and he is a light shedder.
Max had a difficult life before rescue, and did not receive much attention or care. He is unfamiliar with toys, but he's learning how nice it is to snuggle! He LOVES to be pet and fussed over and sits for treats and takes them gently. Once Max knows you, he will give kisses to show affection.
Max is loaded with charm and is a lovely, easy little dog. He is blossoming in his foster home and although he's still a bit shy or cautious when meeting new people, he gets a twinkle in his eye and a little spring in his step when he recognizes a new friend!
Max gets along well with other polite dogs. His quiet nature and affinity other calm dogs his size make him a very sweet companion for the small senior dog in his foster home.
If you have a small dog who would enjoy a calm, respectful canine friend, Max may be a match for your family! Max can also manage as an only dog if not left alone for more than a few hours.
If you have very active or noisy children, if your small dog is not polite and genteel (!), or if you love dogs but are unable spend some quality time on floor cushions while helping Max settle into your lifestyle (he does NOT get on the furniture!!) your family may not be the best match for Max.
“Hey friends! It’s me, Max, the cutest little guy around! I love my modeling portfolio and it was fun having my pictures taken. There were TREATS involved! I love treats and I will sit and accept them gently - you will not have to count your fingers after sharing your snacks with me. Actually, I LOVE to eat anytime and I am very neat about it, too! I’m a quiet fellow who likes to stay close by you. Going for walks is fun and I am great on leash. I love people and dogs; I do not have a cat but I’ve seen some cats and I chase!
I am a curious boy in all good ways. You may be delighted to know that I’m housetrained and will not eat your clothes, shoes, or furniture! My foster mom tells me this is part of what makes me  "Amazing Max"! She also says I am one of the best foster dogs ever, and she's had many foster dogs! I am a happy, smart, sweet, quiet, gentle guy and on the look out for my forever family!”
If you believe you're a possible match for Max, please complete an adoption application
We encourage you to register on our site and "Favorite" the dog(s) that interest you, so that you will be notified when bio, photos, or status are updated.
  • "Companion animal" means, needs at least one other friendly, playful dog that lives full-time in the same household.
  • "Fenced yard" means, a backyard that is adjacent to and connected with your residence and owned by you or your landlord. (It does not mean a nearby fenced area or dog park or apartment/condo dog play area.)
  • Gates must have padlocks and thresholds (cement or buried pavers to prevent digging.)
  • Yard and patio must be free of debris and have room for dogs to run and play on a lawn and/or in a very shaded area. Please do not invite us to your home if you have not yet landscaped your yard!
  • “Swimming pool” means a private (belongs to you), in-ground, year-round pool that is available to the dog daily or multiple times per week.
  • We will not place a dog in a home that has a "drained" or empty swimming pool (fall hazard and contributes to the propogation of mosquitos.)
  • We DO NOT adopt to students as we have found that they often do not know or anticipate where life will take them.

Discussion about a dog - including scheduling of a home check or other dialogue - cannot occur until we have received your completed adoption application. NO EXCEPTIONS. Thank you!
